Seaside Seconds
Seaside Seconds, arguably the Surf Coast’s best Opp Shop, serves the community by giving back to the community. A proportion of any profit goes back to the community through the funding of grants. We are approached by local community groups or individuals for funding support.
For example, local artists were supported in the launch of the Hope Song a powerful verbatim telling of the stories of mental health that premiered in Anglesea and has since moved to La Mama in Carlton. Similarly, local sporting, community clubs and local events are supported financially and practically.
The church, through the Opp shop, provides a lot of informal support for those who might need some help just to do life. This might mean helping with rent or an unexpected bill or school fees or simply providing a listening ear or a helping hand to move, mow a lawn etc or simply a meal on the table. Or it may mean providing connection with professional support services. The church also partners with Foodlink in providing support for the delivery of relief food partner and MindWorks Geelong to provide a mental health support worker to be there each week.
Whenever you come you’re sure of a warm welcome from Pauline or Bek or any of a small army of cheerful volunteers from the local community and church.
Our current opening hours are 9.30am – 3.00pm Monday, Wednesday to Saturday.
